A New Romeo and Juliet; Part 1

Neo Verona
Although the city continues to grow, it has never faced a darker year.
The city's current ruling noble family, The Capulets, had taken power when they personally led a revolt on the old ruling family, The Montagues.
Only with the help of his guardian, young Romeo de Montague, barely old enough to speak, fled his family estate, and survived what was called the Montague Massacre.
Without an eligible heir, The Montagues lost their place as Neo Verona's ruling family.
And ever since, Neo Verona has been plagued with misfortune.

It has been 15 years since the Montague Massacre.

Part 1

A crowd roared in anger, threatening to tear down the castle walls with their bare hands.
Two soldiers of the city guard dragged a beaten man by the roots of his hair through the mob, and up the steps of the gallows in the castle square.

Lord Capulet stood on the wooden platform in his burgundy regal attire, surrounded by his very best personal guards.
The soldiers rapped the noose around the young man's neck, but not before Lord Capulet tilted his head up to look him in the eye.

"He's much to old to be Romeo, tch..." He said, shaking his head.
"But we followed the description you gave us, sire. Male, Dark hair, Blue eyes, just reaching manhood." The soldier said, trying to excuse his failure to find the Real Romeo de Montague.
"Just take pride that only one man will be hanged today, and not three!"

A roar from the crowd shook the walls of the castle square.
"Stop the manhunt!"
"That's my brother!"
"Why are they doing this?"
"Madness!"

Lord Capulet shook his head, and raised his hand to the executioner hiding behind the royal guard.
As the executioner took the stage, a young woman wearing the dark red royal guard attire took a step next to Lord Capulet.
"Father, you and i both know your hunt for Romeo is in vain, why cant you let this man go?" The woman said softly.
"My daughter Juliet, you're barely sixteen and therefore blind in the ways of ruling. When you're old enough, you'll see that your will as ruler is always more important than the lives of a few paupers," Lord Capulet said without looking at his only heir, Juliet de Capulet.

The executioner took his place at the lever that dropped the young man.
His eyes trained on Lord Capulet's hand.
Lord Capulet looked over the booing crowd, and raised his hand.
The crowd gasped as the lever was thrown, and the trap door under the man was released!
